The Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has amazed his fans as he announced he donated $1 million to hardworking firefighters who are battling Australian bushfires.
“As you’re well aware, the bushfires in Australia have caused massive devastation. They continue to burn, there’s warmer weather on its way, we’re really still in the thick of it here and there’s plenty of challenging times ahead,” the 36-year-old said in his video.
“What we need is your support and your donations. I’m going to put forward a million dollars and was hoping that all of you could contribute in any way, shape or form.
“Every dollar counts. That money goes directly to the firefighters, the people on the frontline, the people who have suffered, the communities that have taken a hit and who are in desperate need of our support.”
Thanking people who also decided to open up their wallets and share with the firefighters, Hemsworth added:
“I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who’s sent all their well-wishes and donations already. It’s greatly appreciated here in Australia. Dig deep, lots of love and we’ll keep pushing forwards. Cheers.”
In a lengthy video caption, the 36-year-old actor added:
“Every penny counts so whatever you can muster up is greatly appreciated. In my bio I’ve added links to support the firefighters, organizations and charities who are working flat out to provide support and relief during this devastating and challenging time.”
Meanwhile, dozens of celebrities and prominent figures have joined the cause and made remarkable contributions towards firefighters tackling Australia’s worst-ever bushfire crisis.
Some of the well-known figures that made, or pledged, massive donations include Kylie Jenner, billionaire Justin Hemmes, Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, Dacre Montgomery, Rebel Wilson, Elton John, and Pink.
As for the comedian Celeste Barber, she has managed to raise over $33 million via her global Facebook fundraiser.
