The man who murdered his entire family to be with his lover is still in touch with her years after she changed her identity.
Chris Watts said his girlfriend Nichol Kessinger sent him letters under a different name, his fellow inmate David Carter told Daily Mail in an interview.
Kessinger reportedly moved from her Colorado home and took on a new identity after Watts got arrested for murdering his pregnant wife Shannan and their children, Celeste, 3, and Bella, 4.
Watts is currently serving five life sentences plus almost 50 years behind bars without the possibility of parole.
“He told me she said that she needed to speak to him to clear some things up,” Carter told the news outlet. “He wouldn’t tell me exactly what she had said.”
Carter, who was released on February 27, said it was back in September 2020 when Watts told him that Kessinger was sending him letters.
Watts claimed that officers found out what was going on and punished him by monitoring his mails.
“He wasn’t supposed to have any contact with her, but she initiated it by writing to him,” Carter, who was jailed for stealing money and meth possession, said.
He also revealed that Watts had told him that he killed his pregnant wife as he did not want to pay child support.
The father also said that he feared his wife would take their Colorado home in a divorce.
“I don’t buy any of that though,” 34-year-old Carter expressed. “I couldn’t ever kill my entire family just because I didn’t want a child or didn’t want to pay child support.
“I have a lot of things going on in my life, but I have never wanted to stop and kill my entire family because I wanted certain things to go my way.”
