A group of Christians and mediums indulged in a fight at a spiritualist event in St Keverne, Cornwall.
Around a dozen spiritualists attended a mediumship event organized by the owner of Mrs. B’s Tearoom, Jo Brown with clairvoyant Deby Ould in St Keverne, Cornwall.
However, a group of Christians gathered outside the tearoom and confronted the spiritualists.
The group of Christians refused to leave when Jo told them they weren’t doing any harm and that’s their way of contacting people they lost.
Jo said: “The woman told me that what we were doing was totally wrong and dangerous. I told her we weren’t doing any harm and said that they speak to gravestones and this was our way of contacting the people we have lost.”
“They started telling me I should speak to the vicar and preaching the bible.”
When Jo threatened to call the police, the group of Christians left. Later, Jo complained to the Rector of the United Benefice of St Keverne and said that she held an event previously without any issue but this time it was interrupted by a group of Christians who were ‘intimidating’.
However, Reverend Deirdre Mackrill, Assistant Curate of St Keverne Church, denied the allegations.
She said they were praying in the church and when they came to know about the event, they headed outside to pray for the safety of people attending the mediumship event.
She said: “So many people know when you start to dabble in the occult, it can be really dangerous so we wanted to pray for their protection. Part of the way through, some of us felt called to go out and stand outside in the square.”
“We didn’t have placards and we weren’t shouting. We just stood there and prayed. It clearly says in the bible – and we believe the bible is the word of God – it says do not try and make contact with the dead.”
