They called it their ‘worst Christmas Day’ ever.

Jo Macpherson, her partner Simon Wright, his mother Beryl Wright, and his daughter Harriet Wright visited The Bathampton Mill on Christmas Day.

They waited for an hour because the service and kitchen staff were arguing with one another. They also claimed that the waitress was very rude to them.

Jo said: “It was nothing short of a disaster due to lack of staff and organisation. It also seemed the service staff were arguing with the kitchen staff. I was told by the waitress, who was actually very rude, when we complained about poor/slow service, menu changes and a cancelled amuse-bouche.”

“She stated that she was not happy either as she could be at home with her family enjoying Xmas. She obviously didn’t want to work on Christmas day. This was not an isolated incident.”

“Other guests arriving for the 3.15pm sitting were also complaining, some worse off than us, waiting up to 30 minutes (standing) for their table which should have been available from 3.15pm. We were the first to complain and demand a refund (£250), which we received without hesitation.”

Jo, who is a regular visitor of the restaurant, said they had to go back home and had a meal of cheese and crackers and a frozen pizza. She added: “Not what I’d expect on Christmas Day. It was the worst Christmas I’ve ever had!”

“We will never go back there. It is such a shame because it is a lovely spot in a beautiful place and it has a lot of potential.”

Bathampton Mill has apologized to the family and they were given a full refund.
