A chubby bear was caught on camera having trouble climbing out of the dumpster where he had his dinner on his own.
The incident occurred in Kings Beach where Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputies came to the rescue after receiving reports of a bear that got trapped in a dumpster.
“Yesterday morning, a bear that goes by the name ‘T-Shirt’ got himself stuck in a dumpster in Kings Beach,” the police department wrote on Facebook where they shared footage of the rescue mission.
“He is a local bear and has had prior run-ins with our deputies. They named him ‘T-Shirt’ because of the white patch of fur on his chest. Luckily for T-Shirt, Deputies Bertoni and Staley were able to help him get out of his predicament.”
As seen in the short video, the bear got himself in an embarrassing situation whereas he was unable to pull himself out of the dumpster without officers’ help.
Fortunately, the deputies in the area know too well how to handle situations like this one, meaning that they were able to assist T-Shirt in freeing himself and going on his way.
In another recent bear incident, a family was shocked after discovering a giant bear that made itself at home as he started living under their house without an invitation.
The incident occurred in Lake Tahoe, California, back in November when a family reported a huge bear making its way inside the crawl space underneath their house.
“Crawl spaces are perfect because they’re cave-like. They’re dark, they’re quiet, they’re dry, they’re safe — they’re just absolutely perfect, so if a bear finds an opening, they go in and go, ‘Oh wow, this is great!’ In the winter we deal with it pretty much every day,” Ann Bryant of BEAR League said in an interview with The Dodo.
After Bryant promised the couple to take care of the situation, the husband and wife decided to close the gap beneath their home thinking that the bear had already left on its own because it stopped making sounds. However, the unusual visitor made himself heard again at night.
“During the night he heard him and he was horrified because he realized, ‘Oh no, I locked him in there,’” Bryant added.
On the next day, the BEAR League executive director visited the couple so that they could evict the giant mammal together.
“The people were just wonderful, they were so sweet. They didn’t want anything bad to happen to the bear, they were worried about him and they felt so bad for locking him under there,” Bryant expressed.
“He poked his head out and I said, ‘He’s coming out!’ I backed out enough so the bear wasn’t afraid of me. He stood there first wondering, ‘What do I do, what do I do?’ And then he ran!”
As Bryant confirmed after the incident, she immediately recognized the bear because she has allegedly known him for years.
“We’ve known him for a really long time. He loves the local Mexican restaurants — he gets into their dumpsters,” she said.
