Reverend Lissa Scott planned and organized a celebration in Darlington St Matthew and St Luke’s church to mark the sacred month of Ramadan.

A plan was made for the celebration according to which men who were attending the nearby mosque for prayer were invited to use the aisle and lobby of the church. Women were not left out as well. They were given space in the adjoining rooms of the church.

No, the decision was not made by the church department alone but the former mayor of the town Rev Scott and Gerald Lee were also present for the meeting on 9th of May.

Now the controversies have made their way for the issue too. There are some people who are supporting the cause and then there are other people who are saying that covering the ideal and the cross is disrespecting Jesus and the cross.

The Diocese of Durham also appears to be disagreeing with the decision as he says that church should not conduct or allow Islamic prayer at all.
