The Church of Wales has voted in favor of blessing same-sex marriages, in what is being referred to as a positive step forward.
The unanimous decision comes forward, via an array of votes that allow the approval of the experimental service. Moreover, this enables lovebirds from the same gender to get their blessings directly from the church.
Critics are now referring to this as a unanimous bill but an absolute breakthrough, considering how many went against it in the past.
Local media reports suggest that this particular experimental service will last about five years while allowing separate clergies to decide upon whether they wish to lead it or not.
The decision did come as a big surprise to plenty of citizens in Wales while the LGBTQ community supported it with open arms.
It was revealed via a meeting that allows only a blessed service to take place, as same-gender couples cannot marry inside the church.
Some people were definitely taken aback by the decision as they felt it was weird to have a blessing ceremony occur but not an actual marriage. However, the church in Wales did reveal how a decision of this kind was definitely historic and a positive initiation of matters. For this reason, they hoped many would see it as just that and not speculate further. The experimental decision will be put forward for the next five years to see how things go.
As far as the actual decision is concerned, it was taken by all of the three different orders inside the church. This includes the bishops, the laity, as well as the clergy too. They all voted with a shocking two-thirds majority that is needed to pass this specific bill.
The Bishop in St. Asaph did welcome this decision but they also went on to acknowledge how there was more of a journey left to be taken.
