The citizens who came together to appreciate the NHS workers on April 16 are now being slammed all around the country after a video of them went viral on social media.

The huge crowd that clapped to applaud the front line workers included police officers, parents, and even children.

Every Thursday, Britons from various parts of the country show up on their balconies, windows, and doors as a much-appreciated tribute to the health workers fighting the pandemic.

But gatherings of all sorts have been banned, even if they are arranged to thank front-line medics.

The negligence showed by the people during Clap For Carers event can result in a further strain on healthcare staff, some medics have warned.

Cops, who have been ordered to impose fines on a gathering of more than two people in the UK, were also seen standing among the people participating in the event.

The reckless act hasn’t just shocked the Britons who are staying at homes, it has also enraged the doctors working tirelessly to combat the pandemic.

Dr. Damir Rafi who filmed the scene later posted it on Twitter, saying: “I’m a doctor working at the hospital that’s right there.

“And yes, I was also somewhat perplexed by the lack of social distancing.”

Another medic, Dr. Sophie Cook, tweeted her disapproval of the incident, writing: “One person sat on the beach, told to stay at home.

“Massive crowd at what looks like a police parade on Westminster Bridge, clap louder, oh and here’s a fly past.”

A doctor from London commented: “Seeing masses yesterday on Westminster bridge clapping together, without distancing including police.

“I think it is an important gesture but a little ironic if in a large group.”
