A victim of bullying was caught on camera breaking down in tears when his classmates decided to cheer him up and surprise him with a gift.
15-year-old Azrael Robinson has a history of unpleasant interactions with people who had been frequently bullying him. One day, however, his classmates noticed that he was going through tough times and decided to show him their support and surprise him with a gift.
And so, the students of LaVergne High School in La Vergne, Tennessee, bought the ninth-grader a pair of new shoes and clothes to cheer him up.
“We got you some stuff because of how generous you are and everything you do,” Kerolos Girgis, one of Azrael’s classmates, told the boy when they handed over the gift.
The instance was caught on camera by another classmate whose sister shared the heartwarming moment on Facebook.
In the video, Azrael is seen breaking down in tears as he unwraps the gift and sees brand new sneakers.
“This is nothing Azie,” his classmate added. “All the stuff you’ve done for everyone in the class, you deserve way more than this.”
“Thank you,” teary-eyed Azrael responded. “I really appreciate it.”
“Today, my little sister sent me a video of what they did for one of their classmates, that’s having a hard time. They all got together and bought him some shoes, and also donated clothes to this kid,” Stephanie Myers, the sister of a girl who recorded the sweet surprise, wrote on Facebook where she shared the video.
“The video is so emotional & filled with love. You just never know what kids go through, but it’s kids like them, that gives us hope.”
After the video went viral, Stephanie explained that the gift had nothing to do with Azrael’s financial situation. His classmates merely wanted to show him that they appreciate and love him.
“He is a really sweet kid & will drop anything to help anyone,” she expressed. “The kids did a sweet thing a blessed him & to show their appreciation to him. He’s been having rough days, so they wanted to cheer him up!”
