CNN’s award-winning host Anderson Cooper has opened up about his parenthood as he expressed he wishes he had a child sooner.
As the 53-year-old Emmy-winner admitted on Quarantined with Bruce by SiriusXM, he initially waited to become a parent until he was “really ready.”
According to the anchor, who welcomed baby Wyatt via surrogacy back on April 27, he now wishes he decided to become a father sooner.
“It’s extraordinary to me. I’ve been able to spend the whole, days. I mean, all my time with him really, you know, during this pandemic and it’s just, it’s been amazing,” Cooper said in an interview with Bruce Bozzi.
He also went on to open about his new daily routine as he suggested he loves waking up early just to be there to see his son Wyatt when he wakes up.
“I, now, like bolt out of bed at 7:00 without an alarm clock or 6:30. And I want to be there when he wakes up at 8:45,” the proud father added.
“I just love every aspect of it and it’s just truly the greatest thing ever. And I sort of just feel like I, what was I doing before?”
Previously, the 53-year-old revealed that parenthood had changed him a lot, whereas he no longer scrolls through Twitter posts in the morning but takes pleasure in meditation instead.
“It’s changed everything,” Cooper previously told WSJ Magazine.
“I’ve often in my life felt like I was waiting for my actual life to begin – it’s obviously ridiculous because I’m 53 years old – but… I’ve been very focused on getting to some place, getting a story. Because I’m focused on him, it gives an order to everything.”
“I live in a 110-year-old firehouse in New York and I’m on the third floor and he’s on the fourth floor. So I go up and I wait around for him to make sounds and then go into his room to be there,” he added.
Previously, the anchor also admitted he was “upset” about his life because he thought he would never be able to have kids of his own because he is gay.
“When I was 12 years old and I knew I was gay and thought about my life, it always upset me, because I thought, ‘I will never be able to have a kid’. This is a dream come true,” Cooper told People.
