Teen Who Escaped Cops After Being Pulled Over Complained To 911 That No One Caught Him Yet

When a Florida teen escaped cops during a traffic stop, he called 911 to lodge a complaint about the inefficiency of the officers.

And it was his complaint that led to the arrest of the 19-year-old.

Nicholas Jones said to the 911 operator: ‘What do we pay you guys for? I’ve driven past four cops.’

Jones was pulled over in St. Johns County, Florida, near Jacksonville on May 4. But he managed to flee the scene in his car.

The recording of his call, which he made an hour after his escape, was shared by the Florida Times-Union on its website.

When the confused operator asked him to elaborate what he was saying, the cocky teen replied: ‘I mean he (the police officer) turned his lights on me and got behind me and as he was walking up to my car I did a donut around him and left him.’

The dispatcher asked: ‘OK, you want to now see the officer. Or… What’s your question?’

Jones replied: ‘Like… My question is … I’m assuming he put an APB (all-points bulletin, or broadcast) out that has someone looking for my car… so like he definitely got the plate number but I’ve passed like four cops just driving around … Like what are you guys doing?’

The operator then said: ‘Well we’re working on many calls sir.’

Just after a day of the incident, Jones was arrested by the police for a separate incident. The teen was charged with violating parole, misusing 911, escaping the police, and reckless driving.

According to the police, Jones said he fled the cops at Jacksonville because he thought it’d be ‘fun.’

The teen said ‘that cop had no right to stop me. I saw him turn his lights and sirens on and was going to stop but I didn’t want to.’

Following his arrest, the officers candidly told him how his call led to the arrest as the cops at traffic stop didn’t have his tag number.

‘That’s funny. So I told on myself?’ the teen said. ‘No cop can catch me in my Hyundai Elantra, that thing is fast.’
