The issue has gotten very serious as humans have filled the whole planet with plastic.

Experts believe that plastic trash will outweigh fish in the oceans by 2050. If this problem continues it will be irreversible. Due to this problem, companies and individuals are abandoning plastic and making use of technology to help make the planet cleaner.

Below are 5 companies that are taking it upon themselves to get rid of plastic trash.

#1. Ecoffee Cup

Terbodore Coffee

Over 3 trillion paper cups ended up in landfills within the 3 decades of it being used. A conventional paper cup only lasts around 10 minutes and contains plastic that prevents it from being fully recycled, but the one developed by Ecoffee Cup is totally different.

The company invented a cup that can be used for multiple years if you take care of it properly. What’s amazing is that the cup is made of natural fiber, corn starch, resin, and food-grade silicone, which makes it a healthier choice over a toxic plastic cup or a paper cup that will end up in the trash after being used once.

The Better Bottle is made of natural starch extracted from plants with starch-based labels and eco-friendly inks. Although the bottle caps are plastic, For The Better Good is always coming up with new ideas to recycle and reuse them.

#3. Ecovative

Greener Package

One way to abandon plastic packaging is to find alternative materials to use. At Ecovative they literally grow their own packaging materials that are 100% compostable and biodegradable. The company uses mycelium to create a variety of packaging materials and plastic substitutes for all sorts of uses.

The MycoComposite material developed by the company can be used for food packaging, furniture, footwear manufacturing, home décor, and many other purposes for which traditionally uses plastic.

#4. Adidas

Worldbox

The company has refused to use plastic from manufacturers for part of its sportswear products. Instead, Adidas paired up with Parley for the Oceans, which is a global network that unites people and businesses that are focused on cleaning and preventing ocean pollution.

They’ve created the Parley product series that uses marine plastic debris that’s been collected on shorelines and coastal areas instead of new plastic. By up-cycling plastic waste, the company aims to promote other business and individuals to do their part for the environment.
