Over 6,000 conspiracy theorists have already signed up for $25 alien abduction insurance policy that guarantees a payout of up to $10 million in case of abduction by extraterrestrial life forms.
Despite the fact that the unusual insurance policy has been in the game since 1987, the Florida company that offers it has revealed that they’ve just recently experienced a great influx of purchases after the event Storm Area 51 was organized on Facebook.
According to Mike St. Lawrence from Altamonte Springs, Florida, his business not only offers policies for alien abductions but also asteroid and reincarnation insurance.
While the payout seems promising, there’s an important catch in the small print that Mike wants everyone to be clear about – the company is obliged to pay no more than $1 a year for the period of 10 – 20 million years.
Nevertheless, one alleged abductee, who even submitted a Polaroid photo of the alleged alien, was already paid out $10 over the period of 10 years. Unfortunately, the company lost contact with the man afterward. Who knows, maybe he got kidnapped again.
As Mike stated, the company has already sold over 6,000 copies of the insurance policies which sell for $19.95 in digital form and $24.95 in paper copy.
“I don’t want to try to rip somebody off,” the business owner said in an interview with Fox. “The people that come to me, if I think they don’t understand the terms and conditions, that this is tongue and cheek, I won’t sell it to them.”
Speaking of the claimant who obtained ‘proof’ that an implant in his body was made from foreign materials, St. Lawrence added:
“I said we’re going to waive the signature and we started paying him a dollar a year for 10 years before we lost contact with him.”
