A disaster left lives distorted and people devastated.
After any disastrous tragedy lives get shut for a long time. It takes a lot to come back to the same pace again after the hit of a disaster.
People in the city of South London were left crying, heartbroken on the street. Cars on the streets were blown out; windows of the houses were blown away, leaving the lives around the city heartbroken and shattered.
The disaster sounds like a major gas explosion but it was not that. It was something no one would have imagined living in a city like London.
The devastation that left the city in a pause was a result of a controlled bomb from the time of World War 2. People around kept wonder that if this was the result of a controlled explosion, what amount of destruction an uncontrolled bomb blast will cause.
When the 550lb German bomb back from World War 2 was found, the military was called to the city’s southwest side this Thursday.
Cordon was put while the bomb disposal team worked on this piece and about 1500 residents were removed from the area to safer places.
When such bombs are found, most of the time they are taken away and disposed at a remote location. So the decision of disposing this one within the city was taken after much wondering.
The bomb was covered with mud in the sides so that the blast is of lower sound. But this did not help much as the sound was audible till 8 miles away.
People came to social media to express what they just experienced. One wrote, “Massive explosion heard.” Another said they could hear and feel the walls of their house shaking.
It was just one bomb that exploded this time. There were hundreds of such bombs that took hundreds of lives back then. Guess we are lucky to be born in this era.
