Widely publicized racist incidents have created a ruckus in the United States so much that there are now protests encapsulating the nation as well as downpours of outrage across the Internet for a review of the racist mindset in some Americans, both private and public.
The more widely known incident of police brutality upon an African-American man on Tuesday have resulted a social media backlash, supported by celebrities and private users alike, crying for justice for the late 46-year-old George Floyd. Apparently what the police was trying to do was to contain his activity by mercilessly kneeling on top of his neck, despite pleas from bystanders who had filmed the incident. The video has sparked national protests, inciting many to take to the streets despite COVID concerns.
The four officers were “separated from employment,” Officer Garrett Parten, a police spokesman, said Tuesday.
“I support your decisions, one hundred percent.
It is the right decision for our city. The right decision for our community, it is the right decision for the Minneapolis Police Department. ” said Mayor Jacob Frey, in a statement concurring with the police declarations. In the said video, Floyd is seen crying for help under the Caucasian officer, while an Asian officer tells bystanders to step off.
“Please, I can’t breathe,” the man screams in the video for several minutes before becoming unresponsive, apparently unconscious.Bystanders urged the officer to release the man from his hold.
“We all watched the horrific death of George Floyd on video as witnesses begged the police officer to take him into the police car and get off his neck. This abusive, excessive and inhumane use of force cost the life of a man who was being detained by the police for questioning about a non-violent charge.” the attorney for the deceased’s family has said in an interview.
Another incident that have rocked the nation in a relatively minimal but significant outrage was the strange encounter of a Caucasian woman and a black man who was both named Cooper coincidentally.
Amy Cooper was pictured in a video taken by Christian Cooper, which was a result from an altercation between the town concerning a dog leash, which her dog wasn’t tethered to.
”
We do not tolerate racism of any kind at Franklin Templeton,” the company said on Twitter Tuesday.
“I’m not a racist. I did not mean to harm that man in any way,” Amy Cooper had said in her earlier apology. If you liked this article, please LIKE SHARE AND COMMENT below! And don’t forget to check our other articles along the way!
