A hero cop has been praised for his bravery after confronting a gunman with nothing but a taser during a dramatic stand-off.
The incident took place in Leeds, UK, where a 48-year-old man who appeared to be armed with a handgun started terrifying people at a residential road in the Kirkstall area.
As the authorities arrived at the scene, one brave police officer positioned himself between a bus full of passengers and the gunman who was pointing his weapon right at him.
The police eventually managed to apprehend the gunman using a taser only to find out he was using an imitation firearm in an attempt to “cause fear of violence.”
“At 10.44 am on Tuesday, police received a report of a man with what appeared to be a handgun in Kirkstall Lane, Leeds,” a spokesperson for the West Yorkshire Police revealed in a statement to The Sun.
“Officers were deployed to the area and a 48-year-old male was detained in Queenswood Drive shortly after 11 am by firearms officer using Taser. He was arrested on suspicion of possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.”
According to the police, the officers recovered a gas-powered BB gun at the scene of the incident after arresting the gunman.
As of this writing, the 48-year-old man remains in custody. His motives remain unclear and the investigation is on-going.
