A bodycam has captured the incredible moment a cop saves a 3-year-old boy from choking outside a car wash in Oklahoma.
The boy had somehow swallowed a quarter and was desperately trying to cough it out. But the coin was badly stuck in his throat and no matter how hard he coughed he was unable to free himself from the ordeal.
That’s when Deputy William Wheeler spotted the distressed child and came to his rescue. The quick-thinking officer held little Chaz firmly by his left arm and started tapping on his back with the other arm.
The deputy continued to slap the little boy vigorously on his back until he spat the coin out of his mouth.
The incident that happened on June 7 at 7.40 pm was recorded by the deputy’s bodycam.
In the three-minute footage, the boy’s panicked mother Victoria Terrill can be heard asking her son: ‘Is it out of your throat, baby?’
After the child spat the coin out onto the pavement, the kindhearted deputy asks him: ‘You ok buddy?’
The video went viral as soon as it was shared on the internet, with thousands applauding the quick reaction of the officer.
Victoria said she will be forever thankful the officer was there to help her at the right time. ‘He literally was like a guardian angel,’ she said.
‘He just happened to be going by at the exact time I needed him.’
