All life is precious and for premature babies battle for survival is no easy job.
Baby Axel is one of the tough survivors who made it through despite all odds.
Baby boy Axel was born when he was merely 29 weeks old. Despite being extremely happy to get a son, his parents Adam and Melissa Winch were very worried due to his condition. As he had multiple health issues and genetic problems, only a miracle could save him.
Immediately after Axel’s birth, the baby was transported to the Children’s Hospital Colorado. Despite the hospital being almost 300 miles away from their home, Axel’s parents tried their best to visit and stay with him often.
The baby had to undergo numerous dangerous surgeries and was in an unstable condition for most of the time. “Axel has died in our arms multiple times,” Adam Winch, his dad, said.

As both of the parents had their job obligations as well, they had troubles managing their time. That’s where their fellow police officers stepped in and offered a what they called a ‘cuddle watch’ for the baby. They also helped in raising funds for the family.

Since then, dozens of cops visited Axel so that he was never alone.
Both the cops as well as anyone who knew the Winch family understood how hard these times were for the parents.Nevertheless, the cuddle watch proved fruitful both for the cops as well as Axel.
“I think it was a win-win for both Axel and the officers that came in here,” Sergeant Mike Pitrusu said. “When you look down inside the heart and soul of a police officer, they’re there because of love. They showed the very best side of that here, every day,” he continued.

Eventually, Axel became stronger, and although his future remains insecure, he is now capable of staying at home with his family. While the officers are extremely happy with how things turned out, Mike said that they will miss the cuddle watch for sure.

The baby’s family continues to be grateful for the life Axel’s been given. “God answers prayer and performs impossible miracles, now and forever,” Adam said.
Despite all odds, Axel survived this ordeal and is getting better by the day. Let’s wish him a speedy recovery and many years to come. Don’t forget to share this miracle to support the Winch family!
