A man with seemingly nothing to lose had gone over the barrier and was sitting on the edge of an overpass.
Desperate and lost, the man felt like he had finally reached the end of his rope.
Thankfully the police showed up before he had done anything dangerous. The man demanded that he speak exclusively to female police officers as he didn’t trust male police officers. We’re not sure why he had a distrust of male police officers.
That’s when Officer Brandi Madrid showed up on the scene. Brandi had been on the Albuquerque Police force for about 3 years but had never handled a case like this before. Through her crisis handling training and the help of another officer, she was able to help him. The other officer was Officer Candace Bisagna, who had previously helped this man when he was suicidal before.

Be compassionate and show a little bit of empathy with his situation. I mean he’s someone’s son, someone’s brother.
