Disturbing images show food marketing selling live animals like reptiles and rats despite fears regarding another virus outbreak.
Coronavirus pandemic is believed to have started in Wuhan’s similar market, which led to a ban on such markets in China.
However, this has not stopped similar places in the world cooking exotic animals live and in filthy conditions.
The grisly pictures have been taken at Long An’s Thanh Hoa Bird Market in Vietnam where birds have their wings broken and eyes sewn shut before being cooking while screaming in pain.
Animal charities fear such a live animal market could cause another deadly bug and have demand for a global ban.
It is being claimed that in several markets in Asia, rabid dogs sell for their meat. Such spaces are hotspots for zoonotic diseases like Covid-19, diseases that can be transmitted to humans from animals, as per the experts.
One witness at the Thanh Hoa Bird Market talked about horrific conditions in the market where products looked very unhygienic and kept for long, enough to gather flies.
The waste of the market is sprayed down in the drain. And generally, the buyers find it unbreathable because of the stinking food and bird droppings.
One can even witness sellers selling birds with their eyes sewn, broken wings, taped beaks, and with plucked feathers.
In fact, some sellers keep a mini cylinder with them in order to cook these birds alive quickly.
A person revealed that the marker also sold rats, snakes, turtles, and others. In January, as per popular belief, Coronavirus outbreak started in a similar food market in China’s Wuhan where wolf cubs, beavers, koalas, snakes, and rats were regularly slaughtered.
