Most people say you are only as young as the person you are dating but these lovebirds have proved their skeptical friends wrong as their love for each other has kept them together despite the 20-year age gap.
Desiree Gato and Mike from Miami look very similar in age and others can’t tell who is older than the other.
Mike, a photographer, met Desiree while they were working on a photoshoot. Desy, also a successful realtor, shares her photos with her Instagram followers.
“We met in 2016 when we did our very first photo shoot together. I drove all the down to Miami from Tampa to shoot with him,” Desiree shared.
When they first met, Desiree initially thought that Mike was gay. Their friendship began and they stayed friends for a year before butterflies started tinkling their stomachs.
The two are now completely committed and they also own two businesses together. As the two are proud holders of Disneyland annual passes, they plan to tie the knot at the happiest place on Earth.
“We have so many plans. Just not kids. We are NOT fans of kids,” Desiree said.
Speaking about her attraction to Mike who was old enough to be her father, she said: “I love how much he makes me laugh. And he says he loves my ambition – he admires it.”
She added: “Mike is very understanding, and very liberal when it comes to my freedom. He lets me go out with my friends, and makes sure I never feel I’m missing out on experiences just because I’m in a relationship.”
But her friends haven’t always been fully supportive of them, with many saying their relationship won’t last for a long time.
“None of our friends think we’re going to last. Well, Mike’s friends think he’s some sort of pimp or something. They salute him,” Desiree revealed.
Mike’s parents support their relationship as they can see how happy the two are. Desiree’s parents have also ‘welcomed Mike with open arms.’
22-year-old Desiree added: “We wish people understood we don’t care what they think. We don’t ask for opinions or take into consideration what anyone says about our relationship, because we’re so happy together. We just work.”
