Gail Appelgre who is 58 years old and Tim Golumbia who is 55 years old are a couple from the Edmonton in Alberta, Canada.
The couple is suffering from Neurofibromatosis (NF) which is a disease that results in painful masses to grow with the nerve tissue over the entire body.
The couple has thousands of tiny bubble-shaped tumors on their bodies and were born with this genetic disorder.
90 % of Gail’s body is covered in tumors which made her impossible to fall in love before she met Tim who is suffering from the same disorder.
The couple met each other through a mutual friend in August 2010 and fell in love instantly. Tim doesn’t have the tumor as intense as Gail, but the moment he met her, he felt that they were meant to be together.
Soon both of them started talking to each other and got to know that they have a lot in common. The couple soon decided to take a step forward and got engaged with each other in 2014.
Gail claims that she was so happy when she met Tim because they have a mutual understanding of their pain and experiences. She thinks that they complement each other in a lot of ways and the couple is proud to live their life together.
Tim says that Gail is his world and both of them just love to do different things together. Tim is really proud of her caring and compassionate behavior of educating people more about the NF.
Gail has six other siblings, and the youngest three also have NF. Her sister Linda Morgan was so happy she was found out about Gail and Tim dating each other because she thought that they are just meant to be together.
The couple is happily married to each other for five years now, and they have supportive friends and family around them.
Gail says that she suffers from 90 percent tumor and they were growing so fast that it made her childhood different as people used to bully her because of her disorder.
She claims that whenever she used to go out people used to give her weird stares and compliments. She told that once she met a nurse in a coffee shop who said that don’t worry I know what you have but once you die and go in front of God, You’ll be beautiful again because you won’t have these bumps.
Gail replied to her confidently saying that she thinks she is beautiful even now to which the nurse said no you are not and walked away, but that didn’t lower Gail’s self-esteem as she believes she is unique and special.
It is sad to see that people around cannot accept other people’s weakness, but that never mattered to the couple because they were always there for each other and so are there close family and friends.
