A sweet couple who were brought to life at the same hospital on the same day, December 22, 1992, have fallen in love with each other after meeting for the first time on their 18th birthday.
Shauna Gracey and Tom Maguire had been living only three miles apart from each other for their entire life. Nevertheless, the couple from Wigan, Greater Manchester, never crossed paths until their 18th birthday when a mutual friend introduced them.
While Tom immediately fell for Shauna, she was playing hard to get and even told her suitor to leave her alone at one point.
About two months after the costume party, the pair met again on a night out and shared a drunken kiss. Though Gracey did her best to avoid Tom after that night, the two finally became a couple in April 2011.
“From the get go Tom was so keen. He was adamant we were going to be together and would tell me he loved me,” Shauna recalled.
“I told him that we were just friends and that we would never end up together, I just wasn’t interested. But one night we were out and I just looked over and saw him and thought, ‘Oh my God I really like him.’
“We’ve been together eight years now and I couldn’t be happier, he really is one in a million. Now more than ever I feel like it was fate that we met.
“I think it’s so nice that we were born on the same day in the same place. I love telling people and seeing their reactions.”
As the woman revealed, she was born premature and Tom arrived only hours after her. Now, the 26-year-olds are happily planning to tie a knot on May 4.
“The story of how we met is definitely weird. I think all the funny coincidences make the relationship that extra bit special, definitely,” Tom added.
“People we speak to about it love to hear the story.”
