An elderly couple of 60 years have passed away from coronavirus just hours apart after being confined to their home where they received no medical assistance.
86-year-old Luigi Carrara and 82-year-old Severa Belotti from Italy were forced to spend their final days in lockdown in the city of Albino.
As their son Luca revealed, he was unable to get them the medical help they needed because no doctor was available to take them in. According to the upset son, he also tried to alert the emergency services about his parents’ condition with little success.
According to Luca, it wasn’t until last Saturday when his parents’ fever reached 102.2 Fahrenheit that they were admitted to the hospital.
Sadly, however, both Luigi and Severa died on Tuesday just hours apart from each other.
“They died alone, that’s how this virus works. Your loved ones are left alone and you can’t even say goodbye, hug them, try to give them some comfort,” Luca said.
While the son doesn’t blame medical professionals for his parents’ deaths, he admitted that the situation in the hospital where they died is chaotic.
“In the hospital everything is disastrous,” Luca said before claiming that doctors are forced to choose who to save and leave “the elderly to die” due to the outbreak.
After his parents’ passing, Luca, who is now quarantined along with his family, has taken to social media to pay them a tribute since he wasn’t able to say his goodbyes in person.
“Hello, Mom and Dad, this evil virus has taken you both the same day, will you continue arguing up there? Surely, but then you will end with a hug,” he wrote.
