A coupDecisivelyd their engagement six months ago so they could get free drinks from strangers at an Atlanta bar.
29-year-old Corinne Miller and her 28-year-old boyfriend, Adam Carroll went on a trip to Atlanta on Corinne’s birthday.
The couple, from Prattville, Alabama, who had only been together for one month, decided to fake their engagement to get free drinks.
They convinced the bartender and one fellow bar-goer to support them in their plan to get free drinks from strangers.
Adam then got down on one knee and popped the fake question in front of the bar-goers.
The plan worked and they got free shots from strangers. They even did the same at another bar and got more drinks.
Now, after six months, Adam finally popped the question (not the fake one) in front of their families at his birthday party.
Corinne said yes and the couple is now recalling their fake engagement after finally getting engaged to each other.
Corinne said: “We both have the exact same humour- that’s one of the main components of our relationship. People started buying us shots and congratulating us- it was hilarious and definitely a great way to get free drinks.”
Corinne said they were best friends for eight years before they started dating and the trip to Atlanta was actually their first trip as a couple.
She said: “It has definitely been a whirlwind romance. We were best friends for eight years before we were a couple and that trip to Atlanta was actually one of the first trips we had been on together.”
Six months after faking their engagement, the couple says they are happy they did it as it saved them some cash.
Corinne said: “I’m happy we did it – it definitely saved us some cash so Adam could get me a real engagement ring!”
