David and Sandra Traynor always loved gardening and when they got a proper space in their house, they decided to turn their back garden into a tropical paradise.

They spent two-and-a-half years to turn their boring suburban garden into a lush green garden with a pond containing 40 exotic Koi carp and 80 palm trees.

David said: “I’ve always been into gardening but we’ve never had a proper space to do what we wanted. We were really excited about moving into a house with such a blank slate for the garden.”

“I worked out a detailed plan of the garden before we moved in. It’s taken us about two years to transform it from just a lawn. The whole point was to put something together that was our personal fantasy.”

The couple says that the first thing the people say after they see their garden is ‘oh my god’.

The garden is now full and there’s no space for any additional planting. The couple says they wanted to create their own tropical styled fantasy and at the same time, they wanted to keep it natural as a tropical forest.

David said: “We managed to get all of the main elements together in about three months. Three years on, the garden is now full to bursting with tropical plants from all across the world, all tightly planted to create a dense layered and natural feel.”

The couple says it is a lot of work but in the end, it’s worth it.
