Two joyful centenarians have shared their secret to staying happy together after 82 years of successful marriage.
Surrounded by beloved family and friends, 103-year-old D.W. Williams and 100-year-old Willie Williams from Charlotte, North Carolina, celebrated their 82nd wedding anniversary on March 31.
BJ Williams-Greene, the sweet couple’s granddaughter, helped them throw a party together with her mother.
“To see them at this age and still doing well, it’s just a blessing to have them here,” Williams-Greene said in an interview with WSOC-TV.
The couple who lived to tell about The Great Depression and World War II are now enjoying each other’s presence and taking selfies with their kids.
During the birthday bash, D.W. and Willie joined their family members in singing their favorite songs and sharing sweet memories from their past.
According to their children, the pair taught them about the true meaning of commitment, love, and understanding.
Speaking of their successful marriage, the centenarians revealed the secret to 82 years of happy marriage.
“I don’t have no secret for that, just be nice to each other,” Willie explained.
While their little ‘secret’ isn’t a secret at all according to the couple, their advice seems spot on.
“It’s communication and loving each other and working together,” Williams-Greene added. “They are each other’s best friend.”
After the Williams couple were asked what they would do with their free time if they got to live another 100 years, the two burst into laughter and admitted they never thought about it.
“Sit around the house,” Willie jokingly said.
