An Ohio couple who were struggling to get pregnant were in for the shock of their lifetime after finding out that they were expecting quintuplets following more-than-successful fertility treatment.
20-year-old Hannah and her 22-year-old husband Jacob Merton had been trying to conceive their first child ever since tying the knot back in 2017.
After more than one year without any success, Hannah has discovered that her inability to get pregnant was most likely linked to her polycystic ovary syndrome.
Following a hormone therapy prescribed by her doctor, the couple was stunned when they went in for an ultrasound only to find out that they’re getting quintuplets.
“She [the doctor] kept looking and she was measuring and counting and re-counting,” the young mother said in an interview with ABC5 Cleveland.
“Finally after it was over, she had to pull up a chair because she was so shocked and she was like, ‘You’re having five babies.’ I was just like, ‘How is this even possible?’”
Despite an obvious shock, Jacob and Hannah have confirmed that they’re keeping all five babies to themselves.
Meanwhile, Alicia, the 20-year-old’s sister, has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser in an attempt to get enough money to help the parents provide for their five children.
“This is her first pregnancy and she needs just about everything. She doesn’t have a lot of baby things and we all know how much you need for just one,” she wrote.
“If you are able to donate it would be greatly appreciated. And if you are unable to donate we ask that you keep the Mertons in your prayers.”
