The letter read that many residents have raised concerns with regards to the flags’ offensive nature.

And if they wanted to express themselves, the couple should have done it in a more discreet manner, which does not make the eyes sore and bring down the area. It further read that residents have made a formal complaint to the local council, and they will be taking things further.

However, the residents showed their support to the couple by decking up their own homes to mark the historic day.

Nicola (50), who is a travel company owner, said that her husband is very patriotic and he gets dressed up on Saint George’s Day and put red roses and flags with his mates.

They used to live in Birmingham, and the couple carried the tradition in Lawley after moving seven years ago. She added that the family puts up flags even during the World Cup.

Nicola said that on Thursday, when she returned home from work, her husband showed the letter. And both of them were truly stunned that someone could actually write something like that. She said that it is not someone who knows them but lives nearby.
