A couple was left shocked after discovering a nest of over 150 snakes beneath the house that they have just bought in Colorado.
As Royce Robins and Shaynon McFadden revealed, they moved to their new house in Elizabeth, Colorado, only for their dream home to soon turn into a living nightmare.
Soon after moving into their new home, Royce and Shaynon realized there must have been a giant snake nest somewhere on their property due to snakes commonly appearing everywhere in and around the house.
To the couple’s shock, the critters even began popping their heads out from underneath the decking after the weather got warmer.
“We started seeing garter snake heads popping up in between the wood slats on the ground level patio,” McFadden said in an interview with 9News.
While garter snakes aren’t harmful to humans, the couple was legitimately shocked by the discovery as no one had disclosed to them that there were over a hundred reptiles living underneath the home they were buying.
As the couple revealed, the majority of snakes came out in spring whereas some even managed to sneak into the house.
“My cats had it cornered in the bathroom. We’re not sure how it got in, but we got rid of that one right away,” McFadden added.
After attempting to counter the problem on their own, the couple soon realized that the extent of the infestation required the attention of a professional exterminator.
Besides getting rid of the snakes, the couple was also forced to spend over $8,000 to replace their deck with a concrete alternative and invest in a new shed.
According to the Colorado laws, real estate agents and sellers are required to disclose vital, materially-relevant information before selling a home. In this case, they obviously ‘forgot’ to mention that there were some 150 snakes living at the property at the time of the sale.
