A couple finally got to see their wedding pictures 35 years after getting married.
60-year-old Mick and 55-year-old Tracey Hepworth got married in 1985. But unfortunately, thieves stole Tracey’s cousin Karen Williams’ handbag when she was dancing at the evening reception at a pub in Leeds, West Yorks.
The bag had a roll of film containing their wedding pictures shot by a relative.
The couple could never see their wedding photographs and gave up all hope.
But thanks to Facebook, the couple could finally get to see the pictures from their wedding that took place 35 years ago.
When the thieves stole the bag, the family chased them and they discarded the handbag.
A passerby Angie McHale got the stolen handbag and found the roll of film. She developed the pictures and tried to trace the people in the photographs but she couldn’t find them.
Angie said: “I was walking down the street when I spotted the handles of a hand bag. The bag was empty but on the floor, there was a roll of film.”
“I decided to take the film to be developed at the chemist and discover what was on the photographs.”
In January, when she was moving to a new house, she found the photographs again while packing and decided to find the people in the photographs.
She said: “I came across them again after having a clear-out ready to move and thought I could try one last time to find the people involved. I vowed to find them.”
She shared the pictures on Facebook and asked if anyone knew the people in them.
Within hours, she was able to find the owners of the photographs.
Karen’s sister, Christine, told that someone messaged her that they spotted her old photograph on Facebook.
When she saw the post, she was left stunned. They were the same photographs that were got stolen 35 years ago.
Christine and Karen contacted Angie and Angie asked their address to deliver the photographs to its owners.
When Mick and Tracey got the pictures, they were very happy as they could finally see the happy memories of their big day.
Tracey said: “We will be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary on 6th July 2020.”
“It was a thoughtful gesture for what was a complete stranger, Angie Mac, to decide to track down the owner of the photos. Happily, we are so the story did have a happy ending.”
