A couple, who lost their beloved cat during California wildfire, has finally found it back after 102 days.
Paul and Sandra Ritchie’s house in Paradise, California caught on fire. They looked for their four cats and found three of them. But, one cat named Dexter was nowhere to be found.
They were forced to leave as the house caught on fire.
“We had like five minutes to get out of the house. I myself had horrible thoughts about him burning up in the fire,” Paul said.
The couple moved to Missouri but couldn’t forget their beloved cat.
After 100 days, the couple received a call from the FieldHaven Feline Center.
They were told they had their cat, Dexter.
“I said what? It was pretty emotional,” Paul said. The cat was found by an organization who was rescuing cats.
The president of the feline center, Joy Smith told KXTV:
“We called them almost immediately, giving them the good news, and they were astounded that he survived,”
The center wrote: “Dexter was trapped 1.1 miles from his burned down home in Paradise 102 days after the fire. Thanks to his Miracle Microchip we were able to track down his family who is now living in Missouri.”
“His 3 kitty siblings, including his littermate, Clayton were able to leave with their parents but they couldn’t find Dexter. Because the house was closed they assumed he had perished. But Dexter somehow escaped his burning house.”
Leslie Berard-Zaletel, who rescued Dexter, headed to Missouri where Dexter reunited with its family.
