Same-sex marriage and relationships remain as a taboo in India.
Although in 2018, the legislation removed the 377 act and brought homosexuality in consideration there is still no legal barrier or acceptance towards same-sex marriages.
This gay couple who got married in the City Hall of New York City legally did not feel complete about their marriage.
Being active religion followers, these Hindu men felt they were not completely married until they have a proper Hindu wedding in a temple.
Coming down to India for the same was difficult for them as people still have a long way to go to accept gay marriages in the country. This is why they decided to get married religiously in a Hindu temple in New Jersey.
Aditya Madiraju, a risk manager married the love of his life, Amit Shah who is a Choreographer by his profession. They tied the knot religiously in the temple on July 17.
The two men wore matching kurtas with flowers on it. They looked absolutely gorgeous together.
Madiraju said “Yes we got married back in January but we both wanted a traditional wedding. We both come from families that are religious and conservative.
They do not believe in marriage until it is performed in front of the almighty. This is why we were waiting to get married again in a temple.”
He said that they met at a small bar in the lower east side as it was a friend’s birthday.
Since that night the two have been together and three years later they got married in the most beautiful way.
He said that in just one year they realized that they are in love with each other and they decided to come out to their parents. He said, “We are both lucky that our parents are supportive and understanding us and our emotions.”
