A couple has been slammed and branded selfish after it was revealed they asked their wedding guests to give them money ahead of their big event.
The incident came to light after a Facebook user shared a photo of a ‘wishing well’ card in which an Australian bride and groom-to-be requested their friends and family members donate money ahead of their wedding day.
After the horrible poem the couple wrote in an attempt to get their hands on the big bucks went viral, netizens were quick to suggest that they were not only rude to their guests but also terribly bad at asking for money.
“Our bank account is in debt, and we would like it to go back into credit,” the wishing well card read.
“Please visit the ATM, we know you’re a gem. Pull out your greens and let it be seen that your kindness is real when it’s given it’s (sic) final seal.
“So place your cash in our wishing well and make our dreams come true, that will be swell.”
After the couple’s request made rounds on the internet, people were quick to condemn the bride and groom and call them out for being “greedy” and “tacky.”
“I feel like the choice of words about the wishing well is a bit… tacky,” someone wrote.
“The biggest crime is that this is a TERRIBLE poem,” another one joked.
Meanwhile, plenty of users went on to accuse the couple of being greedy and downright cringy for their poor attempt to put their words into a poem.
