A couple has spoken out about their big wedding after the event left dozens of guests sick and several seniors fighting for their lives.
Anthony and Mikayla Bishop are an Ohio couple who celebrated the beginning of their marital union in front of 83 family members and friends on October 31.
Following their ceremony in Blue Ash, Hamilton County, thirty guests, along with the couple, have fallen ill from Covid-19.
As it is believed, nearly half of all the guests who attended the wedding got infected with coronavirus at the “super-spreader event.” Among the infected were also the couple’s three grandparents who were forced to be hospitalized after developing severe symptoms.
According to the couple, they were aware of the raging pandemic and its dangers which is why they greatly reduced the number of attendees. They allegedly also socially distanced the tables and provided hand disinfectant during the event.
As Mikayla admitted in an interview with WLWT, however, she realized that the majority of people didn’t wear a face mask as she walked down the aisle. Lack of face masks, mixed with a rowdy dance floor that followed, is what the couple believe to have contributed to the spreading of the virus.
According to Mikayla’s husband, they just decided to go with the flow and forget about the pandemic in order to enjoy their big day to the fullest.
Following the wedding, the couple embarked on their honeymoon only to be flooded with calls from guests claiming that they were infected with coronavirus during their wedding.
Soon enough, the couple’s honeymoon came to an end as they, too, started developing Covid-19 symptoms.
While their symptoms were mild, Mikayla and Anthony are reportedly feeling guilty since so many of their wedding guests fell severely ill during their event.
