Sumatran tigers are from a critically endangered species of the world. Conservationists are doing everything possible to regain the population of these tigers. So Melati’s pregnancy was nothing more than an ambition.

Melati went into labor on June 27, 2016, after a 108-day pregnancy. She gave birth to a beautiful, healthy cub and Jae Jae, the father, came over to check on the mother and the newborn.

However, less than an hour later, the staff noticed something incredible and unusual.

The tigress wasn’t feeling comfortable and was acting strangely. It didn’t take long for the zookeepers to realize that Melati was in labor again.

Melati delivered the second cub. It was twins for Melati and the ZLS London Zoo. The staff was overjoyed and thrilled as tigers giving birth to twins is not a normal occurrence.

Achilles, the male cub, and Karis, the female cub was born healthy. Melati cleaned them before they nestled in for their first feed.

The video released by the zoo shows the newborn cubs to be playful and active.

There is always one staff assigned to keep an eye on the cubs and the mother.
