Piers Morgan has once again blasted Meghan Markle as he called her out over her decision to name her baby daughter after the Queen.
On Sunday, Meghan and Harry surprised the world as they announced the birth of their baby girl, Lilibet ‘Lili’ Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.
Following the announcement, critics were quick to slam the couple over their choice of name whereas many insisted it wasn’t fair of the couple to name their daughter after the Queen after blasting Harry’s entire family in their bombshell Oprah interview.
While it is not clear if the couple had talked to the Queen about their choice of name or not, it is a fact that Lilibet was the Queen’s nickname ever since she was a toddler.
According to the reports, King George V, Queen Elizabeth II’s grandfather, came up with the nickname after imitating her attempts at pronouncing her own name.
Needless to say, Meghan and Harry’s critics were not happy with their decision to name their daughter Lilibet after their brutal allegations against the Royal family.
“It’s quite ironic isn’t it,” Piers said of the name on the Today show.
“You have this couple who have been trashing the Royal Family and the monarchy for the last few weeks and they have named the baby after the Queen.”
As the British broadcaster and commentator went on to suggest, the choice of name could signify that the couple is attempting to mend the rift between them and their family.
“Maybe it’s their way of reaching out, as the Americans say, to the royals and wanting some kind of end to this on-running feud,” he added.
Despite not seeing eye to eye with the couple, Morgan refrained from further criticism by saying: “I always think when a new baby is born – I’ve had four myself – it’s churlish to put any negative slant.”
