Video footage shows a massive crocodile snapping its jaws at terrified highway motorists in the state of Telangana, southern India.
Police and forest officials called in a JCB to rescue the crocodile. Officials pinned its tail using a JCB and tied its jaws with ropes.
Later, it was released back into the river Godavari. It is believed that the crocodile made its way onto the road because of the rising water levels after a heavy monsoon season in Telangana, southern India.
The drivers looked terrified while the massive crocodile was being rescued. The video of the rescue operation was posted online which instantly went viral.
A forest official said: “The Godavari river flowing close to the village had turned turbulent and muddy, apparently forcing the crocodile to wade out of the fast-flowing river.”
“Our team reached the spot and tried to catch reptile. Being annoyed and in self-defense, it snapped at our team members. As a last resort, using a JCB excavator bucket we were able to pin down the crocodile and truss its jaws with ropes.”
