We’ve been taught to share from early on but if you’ve been around kids long enough, you come to realize that most kids are possessive by nature. As long as they receive the proper amount of care and guidance, these kids generally outgrow these instinctive reactions and can even become quite generous to others.
Still, that doesn’t change the fact that while they’re still toddlers, you have to expect episodes wherein the kid doesn’t want to give up on what he/she is holding. If you’re a parent and you have several children who are toddlers, you’ll probably find yourself playing referee most of the times as your kids fight over who gets first dibs over whatever it is they get their collective hands on.
It must even be tougher still for twins simply because they’re the same age and at the same level of emotional development. And in this video, one dad taped his twins as they adorably baby-argued over who gets to ride in the toy car.
One of the twins is a girl and she has the obvious advantage of already being inside the car. So even if her twin brother opens the door and tries to take over, it’s a simple matter for her to push him away and close the door. Girl power, indeed!
As the boy throws a mild tantrum at being rebuffed, the dad reminds him that he has a perfectly fine car of his own just right beside the one he’s trying to take over. It doesn’t stop the boy from trying again with his sister’s car and results in him getting pushed away again. The dad tells the boy to get up and just play with his own car but it seems the boy only wants the one that his sister is already using.
And that illustrates another problem with kids because sometimes, even if you make sure that each of your kids has their own toy to play with, for some reason they want the one that belongs to their sibling even if it’s the exact same toy.
Perhaps they think that whatever others have it must be better than what they already have and so these illogical attempts at a toy grab happen.
Then again, such behavior sometimes manifests themselves in adults who don’t manage to outgrow those tendencies.
Either way, it was an adorable confrontation and at least the girl was able to assert herself even at such a young age. And siblings being siblings, we’re sure they kissed and made up soon afterward.
