Single Dad Adopted Baby With Down Syndrome Who Was Rejected Over 20 Times


A single dad has been commended after adopting a young baby with Down syndrome who got rejected over 20 times.

41-year-old Luca Trapanese from Naples, Italy, is a gay dad with a big heart who started documenting his life with Alba, his adopted daughter who has Down’s syndrome.

“I am proud to be her dad,” Mr. Trapanese professed on Instagram where he commonly shares his photos with Alba.

According to the reports, Alba’s biological mother put her up for adoption because she wasn’t ready to take care of a child with Down syndrome.

However, the condition didn’t stop Luca who used to work with kids with disabilities back when he was a teen from adoption.

“Since I was 14 years old, I have volunteered and worked with the disabled so I felt I had the right knowledge and experience to do it,” he said in an interview with BBC.

“When I first held her in my arms, I was overcome with joy. I felt she was my daughter straight away,” he added as he recalled the first time he saw the baby girl.

“It was the first time I held a newborn baby. Before that moment, I have always been scared. But, when I first held Alba, I knew I was ready to be her dad.”

After the pair’s story went viral, Luca has quickly racked up over 130,000 social media followers who can’t wait to see more pictures of their life journey.

“She brought me happiness and a sense of fulfilment. I am proud to be her dad. I wanted her to be my daughter,” the 41-year-old said.

Despite the fact that Alba was rejected by more than two dozens of families before meeting Lucas, the proud father claims he never hesitated and instantly knew that the two were connected.
