Most kids around the world have at one time or another mentioned that once they grow up they want to be an astronaut, a cowboy, or a pirate. Out of the three, only the astronaut most realistically comes close to a kid’s romantic notions of what the profession entails and even then, not everyone gets to make it all the way to outer space.
Still, the memories of twirling bedsheets that were made into an improvised lasso or jumping up on one’s “pirate ship” of a bed still hold a special place in the heart of every kid who grew up playing such games. The continuing popularity of the fantasy pirate was probably helped along by the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and it’s easy to see why kids nowadays can still dream of becoming a dashing swashbuckler on the high seas.
One genius dad managed to channel his own inner pirate to give a more authentic high seas experience for one of his sons by transforming his kid’s bedroom into a pirate-themed abode and the dad even took footage of the momentous event.
The clip starts with little Kian who is about to celebrate his 3rd birthday. The dad starts by reminding Kian that he was going to get a big surprise for his birthday. And when Kian says he remembers, the dad then leads him on by saying if he remembers that he’s been out of his room for several days now.
The dad then leads an expectant Kian into his room and once the little guy enters, he hilariously asks, “What did you do with my bed?” Obviously, little Kian doesn’t yet fully understand the extent of his dad’s renovations but later on, daddy asks how he likes his bed and Kian puts up all the fingers of both hands for a score of 10. And the dad couldn’t have been more proud.
We’re then given a more detailed look into the pirate theme of the room. There’s a ladder beside the bed, a rusty and dusty old lantern, a rope bag (which adorably holds Kian’s stuffed toys), pirate-themed pillows, and much more.
There’s even a pirate-themed aquarium inside! The detail that the father put into the room would make even the most veteran cosplayer turn green with envy.
At least Kian has been introduced early to the world of pirates and if ever he innocently mentions that he wants to grow up to be one, at least he can experience a little bit of what it’s like thanks to his loving dad.
