The only thing bad about the weekend is that it’s followed by Monday.
At least, that’s what most people who have to grind through work think. In fact, there’s even a song called “Manic Monday” by The Bangles that epitomizes just how much people don’t like Monday.
It’s not because the day itself is bad but because it means you need to wake up early and get back to the daily grind after two days of just relaxing. It actually feels even worse if your weekend was particularly enjoyable because it just puts so much contrast into how you feel about the corporate rat race.

As it turns out, feelings like this don’t start when one starts working because the school week also begins with a Monday and kids who spent two days just having fun and games surely don’t appreciate having to stop all that in order to get up early and (horror of horrors) arrive to be greeted by a surprise quiz at school.
But whatever one feels about having to go back to a weekly routine that one doesn’t really enjoy, it’s a fact of life that we keep having to do it until the day we decide to retire. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t find ways to make Mondays a little more bearable.
In the case of one dad, it involved dressing up in a costume and waiting for his at the bus stop as the school bus drops them off from school. Video footage shows this hero dad decked out in his costume obviously not caring how he looks like as the school bus pulls over across the road.
As soon as his kids alight from the bus, he waves at them and spreads his arms out wide as if asking for a hug. The older kids smile but don’t do so, probably hiding their embarrassment but also appreciative of the effort at the same time. So the dad starts trotting over to these kids and gives chase while the kids delightedly squeal as they run away.
The clip shows a series of Mondays where the dad waits in a different costume each time to greet his kids. You have to admire the dedication of this dad because in one clip, it’s raining and yet the dad patiently waits by the roadside without an umbrella.
The mom, who is behind the camera, says in the final clip, “Give Daddy a hug!” One of the little girls hugs this adorable dad but as in the previous instances, the older ones edge away even though they’re smiling and again, this prompts the dad to give chase as they squeal.
It’s an unorthodox way to greet the kids but if it makes Mondays all the more bearable then this dad did a great job of it!
