Because young children especially toddlers still don’t fully understand how the world works, it’s easy to trick them into believing things that even a mildly discerning mind would be able to easily see through.
This makes toddlers fertile grounds for pranks that any older siblings would be more than happy to pull off, to the endless exasperation of the mother.
This can involve something as simple as pretend-pulling out the toddler’s nose and making a throwing motion to convince the poor kid that he/she doesn’t have a nose anymore or something as complex as the invisible challenge that involves draping the victim in a blanket, uttering pretend spell words and then having everyone around the poor kid act as if they can’t see him/her once the blanket gets pulled off.

Dad Mike Exline was cooking up some pancakes for his son, four-year-old Jude, in their Boston, Massachusetts, home when the syrup bottle ran out.
Realizing his opportunity, Mike told Jude to first close his eyes. Mike then switches out the empty bottle for a full one and utters the magic words, “Abra Kadabra!”
Jude jolts in his seat when he realizes that the syrup bottle is now full but his expression is clearly one of confusion and befuddlement.
Mike said: “I made pancakes for both my sons and, realizing the syrup bottle was running low, I discreetly grabbed the new bottle from the pantry.
“I then proceeded to blow my four-year-old’s mind (he was three in the video) by performing a magic trick and making the new syrup bottle appear.
“When he opened his eyes, he’s in total shock, he genuinely didn’t know how I did it and officially blew his mind.
“I tried my best to play along like I was surprised it actually worked, it was tough not smiling though for sure.”
It was certainly an adorable moment that only cemented the bonds between father and son. And that’s very important.
People often think of the mother when it comes to determining the health of a child’s personality and ability to form friendships and that people who are missing the mother in their lives will be stunted in this regard. But as it turns out, research has found out that rejection by the father has more of an impact on this matter.
Make no mistake, being rejected by either or both parents is severely traumatizing. But fathers are often seen as having higher prestige and power so children tend to take it harder if the father rejects them.
This is why stories like Mike’s and Jude’s are uplifting because it’s a clear example of how a parent should bond with the child.
