Back in 2018, Damon purchased a 6,000 square feet penthouse in the Standish. Designed by Frank S. Lowe and erected in 1903, the famous building was first put out to sale in 2016 as some restoration work on its facade took place.

The penthouse, which is located in the 11th and 12th floor, was sold to Damon at $16.5 million. At the time, it was the most expensive penthouse among the many expensive residences in Brooklyn.

According to those familiar with the building and the penthouse, it seems like the residence is worth the extremely high price tag. Because it is the highest building in the neighborhood, Damon can enjoy the entire Manhattan skyline, all the bridges and the city’s harbor from the comfort of his home.

However, multiple accounts of the moving day seem to suggest that the move itself was far from the beauty that is the penthouse. It has been reported that an entire street has been blocked off for the actor, the highlight of which was a big crane that was set right in the middle.

According to those who saw the move, the big red crane not only moved furnitures straight to the 14th floor but even moved trees into the penthouse. Those who know the house structure believe that the trees will be used to decorate the terrace of the penthouse.

A local New Yorker said that the local people often refer to the building as ‘Standoffish’ because it stands out from the other buildings with its touch of Hollywood in the middle of Brooklyn.

Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly also currently reside in the building. The design is said to have the exuberance of Hollywood such as an all gold and marble lobby in a rather low-key region of Brooklyn.

None of the people who saw the move said that they were able to identify Damon. One spectator joked that everyone was waiting for the grand piano to be rolled into the penthouse.
