The daughter of former FBI Director James Comey is reportedly working on the case against pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Maurene Comey is an assistant United States attorney at SDNY. Her job at the Justice Department’s Manhattan Office includes work on cases involving alleged racketeering, embezzlement, robbery, obstruction of justice, and drugs and weapons crime.
Her LinkedIn page shows she completed her undergrad at the College of William and Mary in Virginia. She also received a doctorate of law at Harvard Law School.
It was in 2015 when Comey started working as an assistant U.S. attorney at SDNY. She is one of the six children of James Comey and Patrice Failor.
Epstein, a rich financier and registered sex offender, is due in court after an arrest on new sex-trafficking charges involving accusations that date to the early 2000s.
The wealthy hedge manager was taken into federal custody and is expected to appear in Manhattan federal court, according to law enforcement officials.
One of the officials said that Epstein is accused of paying young girls for massages and sexually assaulting them at his homes in New York and Florida.
His arrest came during renewed scrutiny of a once-secret plea deal that finished a federal investigation against him.
The deal allowed him to plead guilty to lesser charges of soliciting and procuring minors for prostitution. He was then sentenced to 13 months in jail as he managed to avert a possible life sentence.
The involvement of Comey’s daughter in the case could give fodder for conspiracy theorists given the sex offender’s reported friendship with the president.
It was Trump who fired James Comey as the director of FBI. The president and his supporters accused Comey and the Justice Department of being driven by a pro-Hillary Clinton bias.
Comey denied the allegations and has slammed Trump as unethical and ‘untethered to truth,’ calling his leadership ‘ego driven and about personal loyalty.’
