But one mother was told that her daughter would eventually despise her name and they turned out to be right.

Kiersten explained that she and her husband thought that the name they chose was ‘beautiful’ and ‘strong’ so they were shocked when people warned them that their daughter would ‘hate’ it when she grew up.

She took to TikTok and said: “I don’t know how many moms can relate to this, but when I was pregnant with my oldest daughter, everybody, and I mean everybody, told me that she was going to hate her name when she grew up.

“I didn’t understand because her name is Aaliegha and that’s such a strong and beautiful name. Plus, if she really wanted to she could shorten it to Legha or Allie, which I always wanted to do when I was little. I wanted a nickname but my name is Kiersten so it really just didn’t work.

“Anyways, fast forward to now, her name is Aaliegha and she has two middle names which were family names.”

Kiersten continued: “She absolutely hates her first name, they were completely right. She does not care for it.

“The only person she lets call her Aaliegha is me. Everybody else has to call her Allie Mae, which is super cute anyways but it took me six long months to find a name that me and her dad agreed upon only for her to reject it.”

Thousands of people commented on her post, with one writing: “Don’t take it too personally. So many kids hate their names. She might change her mind when she’s older.”

Another wrote: “Beautiful name, I don’t love the spelling. If it’s any consolation, I HATED my name when I was a kid and now I love it. Things change.”

A third said: “She’ll come to like it soon. My name’s Allirah and when I was younger I hated it because lots of people couldn’t say it or spell it correctly but now that I’m older I like it because it’s not a very common name.”
