Talking with our dear ones or spending time with them is always special, Cassandra Napier, a 29-year-old Texas resident, knows that full well.
Napier told to Liftable, a section of The Western Journal, that her father lives in Florida. The distance between the Sunshine State and the Lone Star State meant that she couldn’t talk to him or can share any special news with him face-to-face.
However, she came up with a unique idea to communicate with him on Father’s Day, and it turns out as a present.
Her sister was in Florida with their dad to spend the summer, so she helped Cassandra in executing her plan.
The video was posted on Twitter by her sister, Crystal, and it shows the girls’ father opening up a gift bag bulging with tissue paper. Captioning her tweet, Crystal wrote, “I thought I share at how my dad reacted to finding out my sister is pregnant, best father’s day gift ever.”
The clip shows as he pulls the paper out, grinning at the bag’s contents. It was a stuffed Wookiee, hairy, bear-like creatures from the “Star Wars” franchise come out.
“Just thought it was just a regular gift,” he told Liftable. “She knows how I like Star Wars, so she gave me a Wookiee.”
But That’s not all, this wasn’t an ordinary Wookiee. In the video, someone off-camera said, “There’s more to it.”
While looking at the stuffed animal, the dad exclaimed, “Oh, wait a minute, it talks.” After searching the buttons hidden beneath the toy’s furry exterior, he succeeded in squeezing its paw.
Suddenly, Cassandra’s voice heard from the plush toy. Her father couldn’t hide his big smile.
But he got shocked when he heard his daughter’s message: “Hey, dad, just wanted to wish you a very happy Father’s Day and to let you know that we’re having a baby!”
Cassandra’s dad gets excited. In mere seconds, though, he started to cry.
He hugged the stuffed animal entire time, one hand across its body, the other cradling its head.
Why Cassandra did all this “Both him and I are very sentimental people, so I thought it would be cute to do something unique and something that he could keep as a memento,” she explained.
“I chose the Chewbacca bear because he has two dogs named Jedi and Princess Leia (he likes “Star Wars”), so I thought it would be a cute addition.” He wasn’t the only one who liked it.
The video went viral and viewed more than 12 million times, and Cassandra’s father was particularly gratified by the response. “My younger daughter, Crystal, posted it on her Twitter account, and it just took off,” he said.
“I really love all the positive remarks and comments,” he said. “It was so nice to see that 99.9% of all the comments were positive.”
The excited and happy father shares that he isn’t sure how he’s going to handle things when the new baby actually shows up. “I think I’m going to totally lose it,” he admitted, “so I keep running it through my mind, and I just tear up, but I just really don’t know once I hold that baby in my arms.”
