A mother-of-two revealed her daughter’s heartbreaking words after she FaceTimed her father who is working on the front line in the emergency room amid coronavirus outbreak.
American blogger Mary Katherine Backstrom shared a picture of her husband Ian and daughter Holland while FaceTiming on Instagram and told how they are struggling to live apart from her husband who is working on the front line.
Mary wrote: “Another shift, another FaceTime call. ‘Goodnight, Daddy!’ ‘Goodnight!’ ‘I love you, Daddy!’ ‘I love you, too, Baby Girl!’ ‘Don’t get coronavirus Daddy!’ He paused. ‘…I love you, sweetie!’”
After talking to her dad, the little girl asked her mother why her dad wasn’t wearing his ‘superhero mask’.
When Mary told her that not to worry about it as her daddy is a Super Hero, the little girl said with tears in her eyes: ‘But even superheroes have to wear their masks.’
The mother was left in tears and completely heartbroken.
Mary said Holland finding it really hard to live without her father and needs a lot of assurance these days.
She is even suffering from anxiety stomach aches and despite talking to her father, she is worried about his safety.
During their goodnight phone call, she asked her father to pull down his face mask for a few moments so she could see him smile.
Mary said it’s exhausting as her little daughter is crying these days for weird things. She knows that she is just missing her daddy and is unable to cope with his absence.
Mary said: “Sometimes it’s exhausting, because frankly—I am stressed, too. But the kids win out. They get the biggest dose of patience and kindness right now. They get the oxygen mask first right now, and I’m fixing to tell you why.”
Mary’s heartbreaking post instantly went viral online and received hundreds of likes and comments.
People working on the front line are unable to be with their families and loved ones amid the coronavirus crisis and many have shared their heartbreaking experiences of living apart from their families.
