At its Deadliest 24 Hours, The US witnessed 2,909 Deaths Due to COVID-19


The United States of America witnessed its deadliest 24 hours, where around 2,909 people died due to the coronavirus as the country eased its lockdown restrictions.

The data was published in a report by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Over the last few weeks, different states began to reopen their stores, malls, restaurants, libraries, and museums. As of now, the US has reported 1.1 million positive coronavirus cases with 68,000 fatalities.

As per data from WHO, America recorded 2,909 deaths within just one day, which brought the overall death toll to 55, 337. According to WHO, the figure is the highest death toll due to coronavirus witnessed by the US since the pandemic hit the United States of America.

According to another report, the deadliest day recorded by the US unit now was on April 15th, 2020, with around 2,524 deaths.

On Thursday the total number of 2, 230 deaths were recorded whereas the death toll of Friday stood at 1,872. On Friday with increased the overall death toll of the country to 65, 708.

Federal guidelines highlight that the number of cases should fall for straight 14 days before the lockdown measures can be relaxed. However, many other US states forged the number and eased the lockdown measures.

Texas began to relax its coronavirus lockdown last Friday despite the fact that the state is reporting high single deaths. It has become the largest state in the United States of America to relax the restriction without clearing the federal guidelines.

Restaurants, stores, malls, movie theatres, museums, etc. were allowed to be open in the Lone Star State; however, with limited occupancy of 25%.

Public bars swimming pools, gyms, pools, massage parlor, beauty salons, video games arcades, and blowing alleys remained closed.

Moreover, Greg Abbotts, the Texas Governor, tweeted a caution note that Texans should follow the measures of social distancing and health recommendations.

While face covering was not mandatory, people were encouraged to wear masks in order to protect the lives of others, especially the ones who are at high-risk.

President Donald Trump has sent rather mixed messages with regards to the reopening of states. He was seen promoting the guidelines; however, he also supported the protests for relaxing the at-home orders in various states.
