Nick Abbott’s life has changed forever after he saw a touching ad about a deaf puppy on Facebook. While the young man wasn’t looking for a dog at that time, he couldn’t resist Emerson the dog who shared the same disability as him.

As Nick found out, Emerson was dropped at a Florida shelter when he was only 6 weeks old. After battling canine parvovirus, the pooch has lost his hearing and became unadoptable.

Fortunately, the pup’s life, and the lives of his siblings, were saved by NFR Maine, a foster-like rescue dedicated to saving dogs from high-kill shelters.

As Emerson recovered from his health issues, all of his siblings already got adopted. For the disabled pooch, however, finding a new owner wasn’t an easy job until Nick walked into his life.

After spotting a Facebook ad about Emerson, Nick decided to pay the shelter a visit and the pair matched immediately. In just 24 hours, Emerson was officially adopted – a decision that Nick will never regret.

“Nick and Emerson have their own children’s book, you can check it out on Amazon! A portion of each book goes to charity,” they wrote in their Instagram post as they announced their work.
